Containers for Your Home & Garden
Upcycling is all the rage these days – and for a great reason. As far as the environment is concerned, it’s far better to create your new project out of previously-used materials. Containers are no exception – creating a container involves a large amount of metal and/or plastic, so it’s better for the environment to use them for home and garden projects once they’re worn out.
Fortunately for Iowa crafters, upcycled containers aren’t just great for the environment – they look great too! Many imaginative local residents have taken our used containers and run wild, creating attractive and creative projects that are extremely useful around the house. Check them out!
- An old IBC container can be repurposed into an attractive hunting blind. Just cut out viewports, paint to match the environments, and voila – the ducks won’t know what hit them.
- Metal barrels can easily be repurposed as planters. If you want to keep things simple, just stand one upright, fill with dirt, and plant seeds. Alternatively, cut a barrel in half from top to bottom and get two planters for the price of one.
- Plastic barrels make great rain collectors. In an era of increased drought, capturing rain is a great way to establish an independent water supply or just cut down on your water bill. This is perfect for camping and cabin use!
At J&J Containers, used barrels and containers are always in stock. Stop by our warehouse and personally select a barrel or container for your next project!
